Iced Chia Green Tea

Iced Chia Green Tea is a super easy, refreshing, and delicious summer drink that’s filled with added nutrients from the chia seeds.

Okay, this isn’t revolutionary. Or a drop-dead delicious recipe.

Rather, I wanted a nice cool drink yesterday afternoon and came up with this idea. And sometimes, I just have to share those ideas when they work out well!

I don’t drink pop/soda, nor bottled juices, and I have to limit my coffee consumption, so afternoon coffee is mostly out of the question. I wanted something fresh, healthy and would cool me down in the scorching heat!

Speaking of healthy…

  • Chia Seeds- are full of healthy omega-3’s, anti-oxidants, packed with vitamins and minerals to keep you feeling full longer and chia is one of the highest plant-based sources of complete protein.
  • Green Tea- speeds up your metabolism to add in digestion and are packed full of antioxidants like EGCG that regulates and inhibits cancer growth.
  • Honey- natural sweetener, nature’s energy booster, great immune system builder and is a natural remedy for many ailments.

So I came up with a little concoction to meet my needs! Nothing too fancy, because I never am, just simple and delicious!

You really don’t need a recipe for this but I thought it’d be so much easier to explain that way!

This would also be great with a little lemon squeezed on top!

I’ve never thought about putting chia seeds in my drink before. Yum!

You’ll have to give it a try! Definitely spices up a typical drink!

What a cool idea, Britt! The only time I’ve had chia seeds in a drink was in a Mamma Chia (a store-bought brand), and it was quite enjoyable! Do they become gel-like in the tea?

    • Brittany

Thanks! Have you ever tried Kombucha with the chia seeds? That’s kind of where I got the idea. They do become gel-like but it isn’t bad. I like the variation in texture… makes drinking the tea fun!

I haven’t tried it but I’ve seen the Synergy with it at Whole Foods! Is it any good?

        • Brittany

At first it was a little strange but then I actually ended up really liking it! It’s my favorite type now!

Oh YUM! I so need to try this! Time to head to the shops tomorrow and grab some more chia seeds. How do they taste in the tea? Do they go slimy?

    • Brittany

You’ll have to try this for sure! They do go a little slimy but it’s personal preference if you like that in your drink. I do because it adds a little variation to the tea and helps fill me up more! Give it a whirl and see if you like it, let me know what you think!
